The Vickers monoplace chambers were the "workhorse" chambers of the clinical hyperbaric medical community in the United States from their introduction in the early 1960s until they were gradually displaced the larger Sechrist 2500B series chambers in the 1980s. Total production of these units was several hundred units. Production of the Vickers chambers ceased about 1990. However, technical support for them remains available.
The Vickers CHS and AOC chambers are lay-down style chambers designed to operate with a 100% oxygen environment. The inside diameter of the pressure window is 23 inches (58.4 cm).
Utilities Requirements
Oxygen: 50-70 psig (3.4 to 4.7 bar), 8.5 to 15 scfm (240 to 400 slpm) continuous flow when in operation Up to 8 scfm (226 slpm) additional flow required during pressurization.
Electrical: Normal utility outlet power.
Options Available
Air ventilation packages: Permits the chamber to be ventilated with air instead of oxygen with oxygen required only for breathing purposes. Reduces the average oxygen consumption by about 75%
